About Ostomy Life
Ostomy Life is a social enterprise to support those confronting stoma or internal pouch surgery, or who have been through surgery, to help guide them back to a full and active life, without fear of exercise or food, being able to travel and get back to doing the things they love.
It’s led by patients for patients, who have the lived experience and understanding to know what you’re going through. This is backed by having connections with nurses, surgeons and gastroenterologists, dietitians and exercise specialists.
Connect with others in your area, or across the UK, and join us at one of our events, where you can grab a coffee, take a walk or go for a swim together.
Ostomy Life was formed by ostomate Caroline Bramwell, who has lived with her ileostomy for over 15 years. After suffering with Ulcerative Colitis, her choice to have surgery was made to improve quality of life.
A complete couch potato, Caroline recognised the importance of fitness to recover from surgery and to live a full and active life with her family.
This passion has led her to working within the industry as well as encouraging and inspiring others to get active, at whatever levels suits them.
Caroline now also sits on the Patient Liaison Group for the Association of Coloprotcology of Great Britain & Ireland, who provide a patient and public voice to the Association. They help deliver a professional service to meet the current and future needs of colorectal patients and continue to improve patient care. The PLG represents and champions the priorities of patients.
